Role UX Design, Website Layout, Shopify Content & Structure


Overview

As part of the design team at Amped Digital, I contributed to the full UX and interface overhaul of the Signspace eCommerce website, a large product-driven signage platform built on Shopify. The goal of the project was to improve the overall customer journey, simplify navigation across a complex product catalogue and create a clearer, more intuitive purchasing experience.

Research & Strategy

The redesign began with extensive research into competitors within the signage industry, alongside benchmarking against leading Australian retailers such as JB Hi-Fi. This research focused on identifying best-practice eCommerce patterns including product hierarchy structures, filtering systems, search functionality and checkout flow optimisation.

Insights from this research informed the strategic direction of the redesign and helped ensure the new experience aligned with user expectations commonly seen in large-scale retail environments.

UX & Wireframing

Using Figma, our team developed detailed wireframes and site architecture to map out the new user journey across the platform. This process involved restructuring the navigation system, refining product category organisation and improving product page layouts and key conversion touchpoints.

The wireframes provided a clear blueprint for the site and allowed the team to review and refine the user experience before moving into development.

Development Collaboration

Working collaboratively with developers, the design team translated the wireframes into a fully functional Shopify website. Throughout the development process we worked closely with the technical team to ensure the design intent and usability improvements were implemented effectively within the Shopify framework.

Outcome

The final result delivered a significantly improved eCommerce experience with clearer navigation, better product discovery and a more streamlined purchasing journey. The redesign modernised the platform and aligned the site with best-practice eCommerce standards used by major Australian retailers.
